Eugene Kaspersky: Chinese Kaspersky Anti-virus Software Users Reached 100 Million
Eugene Kaspersky (Евгений Валентинович Касперский), founder and CEO of Kaspersky Lab, disclosed that the number of Kaspersky anti-virus software users in Mainland China has exceeded 100 million by the end of year 2008 during an interview by Netease reporter.
When he was asked that which aspect(s) impressed him mostly during his 4th visit to the Mainland China, Eugene Kaspersky said that the city infrastructures in Beijing were improved significantly after the Great Olympics Games, so did with Beijing taxi drivers’ manners. As for Internet security sector, Eugene Kaspersky remarked that he was very proud for the achievement his company has made in Mainland China as the number of Kaspersky anti-virus software users here has even exceeded 100 million. Eugene Kaspersky rated China as a very complicated and very interesting market. “Even though it’s very hard for new players to enter China market, we still get succeed here.” He noted his co-workers in Europe and American countries even could not believe the big success Kaspersky Lab has made in mainland China market.
Eugene Kaspersky said he didn’t care that much for the existing of Kaspersky fake versions. He further explained it by saying the low income level is an important reason that why Chinese users choose fake versions. When fake version users are distracting the legal copy users, we will just block fake version users’ Kaspersky key!”
Eugene Kaspersky also predicated that Kaspersky anti-virus software will lead the market in Mainland China in the next few years.
As world’s biggest Internet market, China has 298 million Internet users and the number is still growing in an amazing speed which creates great opportunities for all kinds of Internet security and anti-virus solution providers. Besides local players including Rising, Jiangmin and Kingsoft Duba, foreign anti-virus companies such as Kaspersky, Symantec and etc have also joined the competition in this promising market.
